Deferred submittals are accepted Monday – Friday 8:00 am– 5:00 pm Santa Clara County Fire Department is located at 16795 Lark Ave, Suite 200, Los Gatos, CA. The applicant must be a C-10 or C-28 state certified company. ­­A wet stamp of the applicant must be on the plans.

NOTE:

• We will not accept fire protection system applications if the Fire Department does not have architectural plans for the project.
• We will not accept fire protection system applications if a building permit has not been issued.

Exceptions to this are for voluntary systems and modified systems.

First submittal will be reviewed within ten business days.

Revised, resubmittal, as-builts plans will be reviewed within five business days.

Once plans have been reviewed, a staff member will call the number provided on the application to inform the applicant that plans are ready to be picked up.

Plans will be available in will-call at 16795 Lark Ave, Suite 200, Los Gatos, CA.

Firework applications can only be accepted by a licensed pyro technician. This may also include companies acting on behalf of a licensed Pyro Technician.

Fireworks Public Display Permit Application (Pyrotechnics)

A fire department representative must be on-site during the show. (Overtime fees may apply.)

Hazardous Material plan submittals for the incorporated areas of Campbell, Cupertino and Los Gatos will be processed in our Fire Prevention Division located at 16795 Lark Ave, Suite 200, Los Gatos, CA

Fees are due upon submittal. There will be an approximate processing time of ten business days for new submittals and five business days for resubmittals.

Please call our Fire Prevention Division (408) 341-4420 to speak with a HazMat Specialist for further details on hazardous material plan submittals and the corresponding processing fee.

A model rocket is any toy or educational device that is propelled by an engine and does not weigh more than 500 grams, including the engine and any payload.

Over the Counter Submittals will only be accepted for commercial fire sprinkler projects that meet the following requirements:

• Installation of 15 heads or less
• Demo of 25 heads or less
• No new branches
• No hydraulic calculations
• Must provide building permit #

To submit an application, provide the following:

• Over the Counter Permit Application
• Payment
• Three (3) sets of plans
• Hydraulic data nameplate information
• Manufacturers data and listing sheets for each fire sprinkler model being used

The Fire Prevention Division will contact you within two business days of receiving this request.  Not all requests are granted.  If granted, we will notify you of the plan review status (approved/not approved) upon completion. Permits and/or comments will not be given until expedited plan check fees have been paid in full.

Fees will vary. (One-hour minimum.)

Inspection Process

Inspections can only be scheduled with the permit holder. Inspections will only be scheduled with an approved permit issued by the fire department.

Inspections are scheduled starting at 9:00 am and the last inspection time is at 3:00 pm.
Early morning or late afternoon inspections must be requested via overtime. See Overtime tab above.

Cancellations must be done within 24 hours of appointment.

Permit holders may not hold times or swap project reservations.

If your event includes a tent over 400 square feet or a tent with no sides over 700 square feet, a tent fee is required:

• Campbell – $85
• Cupertino – $85
• Los Altos – no fee
• Los Altos Hills – no fee
• Los Gatos – $100
• Monte Sereno – $85
• Saratoga – $85
